    Checking your Volvo PCV System

    0
By Jason Kent on August 11, 2015 Maintenance

While investigating rough idle and stalling issues with our 2001 Volvo S60 I came across this helpful video from a guy named Robert. The more Volvo issues that I’ve researched the more I’ve come across his videos. He does a great job of explaining things in layman’s terms and showing the steps to take to diagnose and fix many common issues.

This particular video helped me to decide if I needed to service our PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventiliation) system or if something else was causing the idle issues. After taking just a few minutes to perform the tests that he describes I was able to confirm that our system was in good working order and move on to the next possible culprit.

Hopefully this will help you troubleshoot your PCV system and maybe save you from an unnecessary expense. Our issue ended up being caused by the timing belt being off by a couple of teeth.

I am not a professional mechanic (or writer) but I take pride in fixing cars and not only keeping them going but making them better. I have slightly above average skills just like I would expect a lot of people who find this website do. Please follow my advice at your own risk... sometimes I fix things but sometimes I make them worse!
