I am not a professional mechanic (or writer) but I take pride in fixing cars and not only keeping them going but making them better. I have slightly above average skills just like I would expect a lot of people who find this website do. Please follow my advice at your own risk... sometimes I fix things but sometimes I make them worse!

I ran across this amazing piece of aftermarket craftsmanship online today. The photo set includes 243 photos of interior work being done on a Nissan 300ZX (Z32). I have never seen a post like this showing so much detail of what goes into doing a proper interior and I must say it is impressive. This company appears to be located in Japan but I will make it my goal to find a company like that nearby here in the U.S. so that I can get this done to my 300ZX and future interior upgrade projects that come along. These pictures are…

PROJECT STATUS: Incomplete – On Hold I’ve recently begun the process of figuring out how to bring this 10-year-old car into the modern age technology-wise. The goal is to get a 7″ double din system that will interface with our phones, play music, provide navigation, allow for hands free phone use, display/store OBDII data and support a rear view camera. We purchased our 2005 Jaguar XJ8 a little over a year ago. When we got it home I started to notice a squeaking sound when we’d first start the car in the morning. The sound went away after the car was running for a bit but it certainly was not ideal. I did some research and from what I found it was a normal sound for these cars and it was caused by an idler pulley that allowed the belt to move back and forth on it. In these posts there was mention of an upgraded pulley but I never could…

I removed the console this weekend to investigate upgrading the stereo in the XJ8. It’s a pretty simple process but I took photos of the steps along the way because it always helps me when I’m researching how to do something if there are pictures. I’ll write up more on this post in the near future. Panel Removal Tools Torx T30 bit

With summer upon us here in the middle of Oklahoma the afternoon temperatures can get blazing hot. I don’t like to leave cars out in this heat but unfortunately I do not have a 4 car garage or workshop of my dreams at this time so some of the cars usually have to sit outside and currently that honor falls to our 2001 Volvo S60 T5 and the wrecked 2.4t that I am slowly parting out. With the forecast calling for near 100 degree temps I decided to start pulling the T5 into the garage before heading to work since that space isn’t used…

I recently upgraded from the stock 18″ wheels (Jaguar Rapier) on our 2005 Vanden Plas to 19″ wheels (Jaguar Aleutian) from a 2014 Jaguar XJ.  I wasn’t a big fan of the looks of the Rapier wheels and they were a pain in the ass to clean with all the “spokes”.  We needed new tires anyway and I was able to find some wheels that thought would look great on our Jaguar with brand new tires for a reasonable price.  The front wheels have the same 49 mm offset as the originals so I wasn’t worried about fitment there but I was…

Every once in a while when I’m driving the XJ8 I like to turn off the AC and radio, roll down the windows, step on the gas and listen to it roar!  The sound it makes with the upgraded Mina Gallery exhaust is not overly obnoxious but it is just the right amount of growl for a family sedan with a bit of a wild side.  After all, this is a V8 motor that revs to right around 7000 RPM before it hits the redline which is one of the things I love about it.
